Vor 208 Jahren starb nach schwerer Verwundung die Potsdamerin Eleonore Prochaska alias „August Renz“.
Unerkannt als Frau, diente sie zunächst als Trommler und später als Infanterist im 1. Jägerbataillon des Lützower Freikorps.
In einem Gefecht mit den Französischen Besatzungstruppen in der Schlacht an der Göhrde (Nähe Lüneburg) traf sie bei der Rettung eines Kameraden am 16. September 1813 ein Granatsplitter.
Erst bei der Untersuchung ihrer Verwundung fiel auf, dass sie eine Frau war.
Auf dem alten Friedhof steht seit 1889 ein ihr gewidmetes Denkmal, gestiftet von Potsdamer Bürgern und an ihrem ehemaligen Wohn- und Ausbildungsort Großes Waisenhaus in der Lindenstraße erinnert seit 1996 eine Gedenktafel an ihre Geschichte.
